What this material is
GaugePass is educational reference and practice material. It is not a code, not a specification, not a welding procedure, and not engineering advice for any particular job. Nothing here overrides the contract documents, drawings, procedures or governing standard that apply to work you are doing or inspecting.
In particular, the discontinuity pages describe how inspectors reason in general terms and deliberately contain no acceptance criteria. Accept and reject decisions must be made against the document governing the work.
No warranty
The content is provided as is. It is written and reviewed carefully — the welding math is verified by an automated test suite against hand-computed values — but no guarantee is made that it is complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose. Use of this site is at your own risk, and no liability is accepted for any loss arising from reliance on it.
No connection to any certification body
Not affiliated with or endorsed by the American Welding Society. CWI® and AWS® are registered marks of the American Welding Society.
References to the AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) examination are descriptive only — they identify what this material is useful for preparing for. GaugePass is not a training provider, is not accredited by anyone, and cannot affect any application, examination, or certification outcome.
Premium
Premium is sold as a weekly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, and unlocks the practice features described on the Premium page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; cancellation is available at any time from the management link in your receipt email, and takes effect at the end of the paid period.
Access is anonymous and tied to a browser through an access code. Keeping that code safe is your responsibility — the site shows it to you immediately after purchase and offers three ways to save it. If you lose it, contact support from the email address on your receipt.
Acceptable use
You may use this site for your own study, and quote or link to it with attribution. Please do not scrape it wholesale, republish the question bank, or present the material as your own course.
